In 2019 CCT commissioned LDN Architecture to draw up designs for the Community Hub at Glascairn based on the results of community consultations. We asked for detailed drawings for a cafe and toilets plus a potting shed which could be used as a base for volunteers helping with the village green. We set a budget of £250k (inclusive) to keep the project as affordable as possible.
We also asked them to make provision in the drawing for a further building of around 100m2 which will complete the third side of a courtyard in the future. The use of this building is still to be determined. It could be a health room and pharmacy, a men's (and ladies) shed, business and retail units or community workshops for example.

At the same time we commissioned landscape consultatants Horner and MacLennan to draw up detailed plans for the village green in close cooperation with LDN architecture. This makes provision for a range of activities and includes a natural play area, a community orchard, an overflow car park which can double as a play space, a small shelter for family groups or young people and a cafe garden along with paths, seating and planting.
