Work will start in earnest over the next few weeks to draw up a final design for the new Village Green at Glascairn. Following competitive tendering, Inverness based firm Horner and MacLennan has been commissioned by CCT to undertake this work which will be led by landscape architect Katherine Wolfe.
The designs for the site will be based on ideas that were brought forward through the community consultation that took place in 2018/9. The general idea is that the village green should not only look beautiful but it should also be attract different types of people to use the space and encourage chance encourers and social interactions. Ideas on the table at the moment are paths, seating and biodiversity rich planting, a kid zone, a defined gathering space, a community orchard and herb garden, a table tennis nook and a hardstanding for local traders.
Further consultation is planned during October to get community feedback before final plans are drawn up. Details will be announced here as soon as possible.
